Hyde St Pier

In the afternoon we met up with the rest of the group and explored the boats at the Hyde Street Pier.

I really like the Balclutha, the 1886 “three-masted, steel-hulled, square-rigged ship built to carry a variety of cargo all over the world.” It was interesting to see the cargo section, and to realize how much work it was to transport stuff in 1886, yet how much it was needed to build the city. Do you know that large amounts of Belgium cement was imported to build the city?
