At the top of the mountain across from the cabin is the western edge of Dolly Sods. This edge of Dolly Sods is not as interesting as the eastern side which we have hiked before, but it was far easier to get too. Emmett very much wanted to walk and explore on his own and not be carried, which kept our hike sort. It was unusually warm for this time of year, a big change from last year when it was bitterly cold. The heat lead Ellis to take his shirt off, which then stayed off for most of the day.
