Our first stop Saturday was the famous FDR skate park located in South Philly under Interstate 95.

Our next stop was the Smith Memorial Playground and Giant Slide in Fairmont Park.

The focal point of the playground is the recently renovated 100 year old slide. Ellis loved it, as soon as he got to the bottom he was up and on his way back up the ramp with his burlap bag in tow. Meanwhile Jasper enjoyed the rest of the playground which was also very nice.

The view from the top.
Next stop was the Reading Terminal Market for lunch. Which took a while to get to due to crazy city traffic, but worth it.

After lunch we headed to The Franklin Institute Science Museum.

Ellis checks out the medical equipment, part of The Giant Heart exhibit.

Ellis loved the Giant Heart and wanted to go through again and again.
After a little rest in the hotel we headed to the corner of 9th and Passyunk for some cheese steak. Well only one of us ate cheese steak, the rest of us had pizza from a place down the street, but it was definitely something to see. You’re driving down these small one way south Philly streets and then all of a sudden there is this intersection packed with people. People waiting in line at either Geno’s Steaks or Pat’s King of Steaks across the street.
