The State Arboretum

With Jamie and I both getting Ellis’ cold, we decided it was a good day for a drive in the country. Our first stop was the State Arboretum of Virginia, run by the University of Virginia, about 10 miles east of Winchester. We had low expectations, but were surprised by how much the kids enjoyed it. Jasper particularly enjoyed the Conifer Trail, a short trail with a guide/map the listed numbered sites along the way. Each site identified different conifers along the way, but Jasper was much more interested in following the map to find the next number. Ellis had a ball playing along as well and trying to keep up. The picture above is from the last stop on the trail #18 a Dawn Redwood. After reaching the end Jasper insisted on following the trail and finding the numbers backwards.

These two pitures were taken on the Native Plant Trail.
